Specifications

Solar Simulators are used to simulate “real” solar radiation conditions and are widely used for the photovoltaic device research and QA etc.

Beam collimation and spot uniformity are important properties along with spectral matching are key operational requirements. Solar Simulator are suitable for all types of solar cells and well match their optical requirements.

The surface temperature of the sun is about 5800K and the arc temperature of a Xenon bulb is about 6000K. As a result their blackbody temperatures are similar and their spectral distribution is very similar. However, in order to best simulate the solar spectrum as measured at sea level a correction for atmospheric absorption should be made. This is done by using an optical filter to remove some of the characteristic live peaks seen in the Xenon spectrum. To complete the solar simulation an appropriate Air Mass filter should be chosen to simulate the atmospheric absorption,
such as a AM 1.5G. Please choose one set of Air Mass filters to match your test needs.
Air Mass 1.5 Global (AM 1.5G), the intensity of insolation equivalent to the Sun shining through the atmosphere to sea level, with oxygen and nitrogen absorption, at an oblique angle 48.2°from the zenith.
